LOCKE’s Steven Knight to Pen WORLD WAR Z Sequel


Now, hot on the heels of the Paramount last’s announcement on planned sequel, Variety reports that Steven Knight (Closed Circuit), has been hired to pen the follow-up to Brad Pitt‘s World War Z, which has Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) attached to direct.

And, of course, Brad Pitt returns for a story that is still under wraps.The film became the highest-grossing of his career with an impressive $540 million worldwide despite the behind-the-scenes drama between  Pitt and the director Marc Forster.

Pitt will produce the apocalyptic tentpole with Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner through Plan B.

The British screenwriter and film director is best known for his work on Eastern Promises and Locke, which Pitt obviously enjoyed. His upcoming screenplays include Seventh Son, The Hundred-Foot Journey and the Bobby Fischer biopic Pawn Sacrifice, which is currently filming.

The untitled World War Z sequel is expected to continue the story from Max Brooks’ popular novel. Release date is TBA.
