Release Dates for ‘Avatar’ Sequels Set, ‘Avatar 2’ to Be Released in 2020

James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have finally set the release dates for the four Avatar sequels, starting on December 18th, 2020, for the first film.

Avatar 3 will open December 17th, 2021, followed by a three-year gap for Avatar 4, set for December 20th, 2024. Avatar 5 will then open on December 19th, 2025…Bet on no new Star Wars films in those dates.

In a move that should surprise no one, the sequel to the 2009 mega-blockbuster won’t be ready by Christmas 2017.

According to The Wrap, the release date of James Cameron’s Avatar 2 is being pushed back to an unknown date as a result of Star Wars: Episode VIII’s move to December 15, 2017.

Disney and Lucasfilm announced that they pushed Star Wars: Episode VIII from May 26, 2017 back to December 15, 2017. Instead, the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie is moving up to the previously held spot for Rian Johnson‘s sequel.

Well, official word has come from The Associated Press (via Yahoo): James Cameron‘s long-gestating Avatar sequel would be pushed back from December 2016 to December 2017  ’cause “they’re gonna be bitchin”.
