The Hollywood blacklist drama Trumbo earned three SAG nominations, leading the pack in the film categories including a lead acting nomination for Bryan Cranston and another for ensemble. Kinda surprised to see Trumbo in there.
The PG-rated animated pic Hotel Transylvania 2 has set the new record for the biggest September opening of all time with $47.5 million. The movie for ages six and above looks as good as the first installment and won’t bore the adults either.
Sony Animation sequel shattered the $42.5 million record set by the original 2012 Hotel Transylvania.
Good for The Scorch Trials. The Maze Runner sequel edged out Black Mass at the weekend box office with $30.3 million. Warner Bros.’ crime drama took second place with $23.3 million.
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials was produced with a $61 million budget, so with this lower opening weekend (compared to the $32.5 million that The Maze Runner claimed on this same weekend in 2014), it may have a tougher time earning a profit than the first movie.

Yeah, Warner Bros. has released the first Black Mass trailer way ahead of its September 18th release. The Johnny Depp crime thriller looks promising although the trailer is basically just one scene.
Nevermind, I assume it’s safe to say that the new film from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper is going to be a supremely tense drama.
