Disney and Lucasfilm’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, the only big release this Memorial Day weekend, managed to pull out $103 million, far below its $130 million projection. Overseas it added just $65 million for a $148.3 million three-day worldwide start.
20th Century Fox‘s Deadpool 2 raked in $125 million domestically, short of the $132 million earned by the original. Although it debuted under estimates, the R-rated superhero comedy was able to knock Marvel blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War out of the number one slot at the box office over the weekend.
Fox has released the final Deadpool 2 trailer, which shows off Merc with a Mouth’s “super duper group,” and a decent amount of series newcomer Cable (Josh Brolin).

Fox has released the full-length Deadpool 2 trailer and it features Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) assembling X-Force a.k.a. heroes who are “tough, orally flexible, and able to carry their own franchise in 10-12 years” to face off against the time-traveling soldier cybernetic mutant Cable (Josh Brolin).
20th Century Fox has released the official trailer for Deadpool 2 and it features Josh Brolin’s Cable, the time-traveling son of the X-Men’s Cyclops.
Ryan Reynolds is reprising his role as the title superhero. He will be joined by Zazie Beetz as the luck-manipulating mutant Domino, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, T.J. Miller as Weasel and Stefan Kapicic as Colossus.
Deadline reports that 20th Century Fox has hired Drew Goddard (the writer behind The Martian and the director of The Cabin in the Woods) to write and direct X-Force, the X-Men spinoff movie that will feature both Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin reprising their roles as Deadpool and Cable.
The characters are being introduced in Deadpool 2, which opens June 1, 2018.
Ryan Reynolds has just uploaded the clip for Deadpool 2 to YouTube, promising the movie would be coming soon, “but not soon enough.”
