DreamWorks’ mystery The Girl on the Train easily won the box office with an estimated $24.7 million. Made for $45 million, the Emily Blunt psychological thriller received a B- CinemaScore from audiences.

Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children dropped a spot to second place falling only 48.0% to $15 million for a domestic total of $51.1 million for Fox.

As expected, Tim Burton‘s kid-friendly fantasy-comedy Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children has won the box office and made $28.5 million in its weekend debut.

Miss Peregrine, which stars Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Judi Dench and Samuel L. Jackson, cost some $110 million to make.

Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for Peter Berg’s true-story action drama Deepwater Horizon, which stars Mark Wahlberg as real-life hero Mike Williams.

The film depicts the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history when the BP oil rig exploded near the coast of Louisiana in April 2010, and killed 11 crewman.
