Weekend Box Office: ‘Despicable Me 3′ Dominates Over ‘Baby Driver’

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment‘s Despicable Me 3 earned $75.4 million over the weekend, while Sony’s Baby Driver earned $21 million its first weekend.

The threequel was directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, and co-directed by Eric Guillon. The film features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, Nev Scharrel, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate, and Julie Andrews and it received an A- CinemaScore from audiences.

Universal has released a second trailer for Despicable Me 3, the Illumination Entertainment’s second sequel which will see Gru join forces with the flamboyant twin brother Dru (also voiced by Steve Carell), “who is exactly like Gru except with hair, and also different in every way.”

Directed by Pierre Coffin and Minions helmer Kyle Balda, and written by Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, the film also features the voices of Kristen Wiig as Gru’s newfound love interest Lucy,

Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have debuted the first Despicable Me 3 trailer, which sees Gru (Steve Carell) facing off against the film’s new, nefarious villain Balthazar Bratt.

Voiced by “South Park” co-creator Trey Parker, Balthazar is a former ’80s child star who’s turned to a life of international crime.
