APES Director Rupert Wyatt to Helm Channing Tatum X-MEN Spinoff GAMBIT

EW reports that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt will helm the Channing Tatum starring Gambit mutant movie.

The filmmaker previously directed the Mark Wahlberg-fronted remake The Gambler, which failed to make big money or earn prestigious awards.


The Fault in Our Stars director Josh Boone has been set to co-write and direct a movie based on Marvel X-Men spinoff The New Mutants for 20th Century Fox.

The filmmaker will co-write the screenplay with Knate Gwaltney (Kidnap). Simon Kingberg, the steward of the X-Men movie franchise will produce with Lauren Shuler Donner also on board.

X-MEN Spin-Off GAMBIT Gets ROBOCOP Screenwriter


20th Century Fox has hired RoboCop co-writer Josh Zetumer to write the script for the X-Men spin-off that has Channing Tatum as the card-savvy mutant Gambit.

We’ve learned that Zetumer’s screenplay will be based on a treatment from Chris Claremont, co-creator of the character and the Marvel comic scribe responsible for some of the most famous stories from the X-Men universe.
