“I need to protect my family.” Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have revealed the grisly new trailer for Halloween, David Gordon Green’s upcoming quasi-sequel to John Carpenter’s horror classic.

Set to premiere at this weekend’s TIFF, the film finds Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers (Nick Castle, who also starred in the original 1978 film).

The Boogeyman is back as well as Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis. Universal has debuted the first trailer for Halloween, the latest reboot of John Carpenter’s classic 1978 slasher movie.

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride reboot the franchise for a fourth time and I certainly hope that they can restore dignity to the Halloween sequels.

Blumhouse, Miramax and Jamie Lee Curtis herself announced via Twitter that Curtis will return to her role as Laurie Strode in the upcoming Halloween reboot, due out in 2018.

Though it’s yet to receive a title, the new Halloween is said to be a sequel to Halloween II, a 1981 horror film and the second installment in the Halloween series.

There were many rumors flying about a new Halloween film, especially ones regarding the talent behind the camera. According to John Carpenter himself, the honor will actually go to David Gordon Green.

Green will reportedly helm the picture that will have a script co-written by him and frequent collaborator Danny McBride (Pineapple Express, HBO’s “Eastbound & Down”). Here’s what Carpenter had to say in the Facebook post.
