Last night the Writers Guild of America announced the winners of the 67th annual WGA Awards, with The Grand Budapest Hotel edging out Boyhood to win Original, while The Imitation Game maneuvers past American Sniper and Gone Girl taking home the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Ridley Scott’s $140 million budgeted Exodus: Gods and Kings easily topped the weekend with a $24.5 million debut, which is well-below the $43.7 million earned fellow biblical epic Noah this past March on its opening weekend. A little surprising actually, I wasn’t expecting Mockingjay to get knocked off until The Hobbit came out.

Not only did Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu‘s Birdman have the most SAG and Independent Spirit Award nominations, but now it’s got the most Golden Globe Nominations  as well. It’s leading the pack with seven total nods, followed by Boyhood and The Imitation Game with five a piece. (Inarritu is a lock to win the Oscar).

This morning, the 2015 Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced with many of the usual suspects in this year’s race so far popping up, along with some wild card additions.

Birdman is leading the way with four, followed by Boyhood, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything with three nominations each.

It’s official as Benedict Cumberbatch deal is all signed, sealed delivered and confirmed. The BBC’s Sherlock star will play the leading role for Marvel Studios‘ Doctor Strange.
