Weekend Box Office: EXODUS Tops MOCKINGJAY with Soft $24.5 Million

Ridley Scott’s $140 million budgeted Exodus: Gods and Kings easily topped the weekend with a $24.5 million debut, which is well-below the $43.7 million earned fellow biblical epic Noah this past March on its opening weekend. A little surprising actually, I wasn’t expecting Mockingjay to get knocked off until The Hobbit came out.

According to multiple sources, Marvel want Benedict Cumberbatch for the suprehero pic Doctor Strange and he wants to do it so it’s likely they now need to talk about money and the multi-picture deal.

The once and future Sherlock is in final talks to play the doctor-turned-sorcerer-supreme although rumors have included the possibility that he will join the new Star Wars series.

Check out the new promo for DreamWorks’ flippered forces, The Penguins of Madagascar, featuring everyone’s favorite, mysterious birds.

We see some more of their antics, and more about the movie’s villain, an octopus named Dr. Octavius Brine played by John Malkovich. We also get to hear a bit more of Benedict Cumberbatch as a wolf known only as Agent Classified.
