Turns out Ant-Man defeats three box office newbies because it was entertaining and fairly original for a Marvel film. Problem with Ant-Man is that you don’t want to watch it twice.
Marvel’s Ant-Man topped the U.S. box office this weekend with second-lowest opening for a Studios movie, while Amy Schumer‘s female-fueled Trainwreck also had a strong impact on theaters, opening with $30.2 million.
Yeah, the little yellow sidekicks indeed create some chaos of their own. Universal’s spin-off prequel Minions opened big with an estimated $115.2 million over the weekend, the second highest opening weekend of all-time for an animated feature behind Shrek the Third, which opened with $121.6 million in 2007.
Following a brief new teaser for director Joe Wright‘s upcoming re-imagining of the Peter Pan tale, the bad news is that Warner Bros. is now opting to push back the release of the film.
Originally slated for July 24, a prequel to the classic J.M. Barrie story will now arrive on October 9th this fall.
Universal has released the very first trailer for Trainwreck, Judd Apatow’s middle age dramedy starring Amy Schumer as the titular train wreck and co-starring Bill Hader.
Schumer also wrote the script for the pic set for release on July 17, which also appears Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton, John Cena,
NBA star LeBron James and Wu-Tang Clan rapper/actor Method Man officially joined the large cast of Judd Apatow’s new comedy Trainwreck.
Both stars have signed on for unspecified roles as the plot has yet to be revealed.
