UPDATE: “I hate to disappoint people but, yes, I am doing a Mallrats sequel,” said Kevin Smith last Friday on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast.

A regular social media user Kevin Smith, still the non-retired, seems to be hinting that a sequel to Malltrats – the biggest box office bomb of his career – could come after his next three films.

Today we have the first official still image from Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers, featuring Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith ( that guy really does love Batman comics) and Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp.

The second film in Smith’s Canadian horror trilogy that started with Tusk and ends with Moose Jaw, is shooting now in Los Angeles and should be in theaters next year.

Kevin Smith Gets Funding for CLERKS III

Kevin Smith has somehow found the funding for Clerks III because of Tusk. Speaking on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast on Friday, filmmaker said:

“Tusk was the absolute bridge to Clerks III. Because of Tusk I got my financing for Clerks III.”

Dystopic young-adult thriller The Maze Runner dashes to top of U.S. box-office this weekend for a $32.5 million gross, solidly meeting expectations.

Following a solid start at the box office, 20th Century Fox has set a date for the sequel, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

TIFF 2014: Awards Glory for THE IMITATION GAME

The Benedict Cumberbatch starring film The Imitation Game won the People’s Choice Award at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival Sunday; the first runner-up was Isabel Coixet’s Learning to Drive starring Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson, and the second runner-up was Theodore Melfi’s St. Vincent starring Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy.

Toronto Film Festival to Premiere TUSK

After announcing the 60 or so films, the Toronto International Film Festival released their Documentary, Masters, Midnight Madness and Vanguard line-ups this morning.

Featuring edgy new works by Kevin Smith, Adam Wingard and Takashi Miike, it also includes new films by Sion Sono, Michael Winterbottom, Peter Strickland, and many more.
