Weekend Box Office: FANTASTIC FOUR Opens Behind ROGUE NATION

Fox‘s Fantastic Four ended up falling behind Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation for the weekend with $26.2 million, along with a nasty “C-” CinemaScore.

The previous Fantastic Four film finished first with a $56.1-million opening weekend in 2005.

Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation easily claimed victory at the weekend box office with a strong, $56 million showing.

The movie received a big push for its IMAX showings with Paramount previewing the first five minutes of the movie in IMAX in front of Terminator Genisys.

Disney and Marvel’s Ant-Man secured its second straight triumph with a $24.8 million haul as Adam Sandler’s video game comedy Pixels falters.

Turns out Ant-Man defeats three box office newbies because it was entertaining and fairly original for a Marvel film. Problem with Ant-Man is that you don’t want to watch it twice.

New Line Cinema has released a new trailer for Vacation, the sort-of reboot, sort-of sequel to the 1983 comedy classic National Lampoon’s Vacation. Despite the fact that it is a green-band trailer, it looks so much better than the last one, which was pretty NSFW.

Ed Helms stars as the new patriarch of the Griswold family who opts to redo his childhood road trip to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World with his own family.
