Neill Blomkamp’s Oat Studios has released a new four-minute short God: Serengeti, which takes its second part of a title from Tanzanian national park.
Frequent Blomkamp collaborator Sharlto Copley plays the titular deity as he tends to his flock, flanked by a butler named Jeffrey.
Neill Blomkamp’s recently launched Oats Studio has completed and released the first short, called Rakka, and featuring Sigourney Weaver.
Blomkamp previously confirmed that Volume 1 of the series will have three experimental short films running about twenty minutes each that plays more like an extended proof-of-concept pitch reel (Rakka is included, along with Saigon being the next one).
The Oats Studios banner, headed up by Neill Blomkamp, has released a full trailer for Volume 1, the short sci-fi film (or films) with the end goal to potentially spawn feature film (or films) – much like how Blomkamp’s District 9 grew out of his short film Alive in Joburg.
The footage all looks to be of lo-fi ’80s vibe, which is sure to please anyone who felt let down by the recent Alien reboot.
