The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed a total of 16 films that will be competing in this year’s Best Animated Feature category for the 88th Academy Award. Based on the number of eligible films, a maximum of five can be nominated, but if some of the submissions not release in time then either three or four films will be nominated.
Studio Ghibli’s general manager Toshio Suzuki has reportedly announced the closure of the famed Japanese animation studio. Here’s a translated version of the news article:

Hey, animation geeks, the latest film from Studio Ghibli, titled When Marnie Was There (Omoide no Marnie) finally gets the full-length feature trailer to coincide with the opening cinema date in Japan on July 19th.
This one sets up a great deal of the story of a young girl who makes her first true friend, unlike the first one that was more of a music video for the film’s primary song, by Priscilla Ahn.
Hey, animation geeks, the next film from Studio Ghibli is due out in theaters in Japan this summer. it’s titled When Marnie Was There (Omoide no Marnie), it’s directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (Arrietty) and it’s based on the book of the same name by Joan G. Robinson.
