Denis Villeneuve's Sci-Fi Drama

The first teaser for Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi drama Arrival has premiered, hinting at what is bound to be one of Amy Adams’ best lead performances yet.

In the film, Adams stars as a linguist who is recruited by the U.S. government to determine whether extraterrestrial spacecraft that has landed around the world come in peace or are a threat.

Based on Ted Chiang’s 1998 novella Story of Your Life, Villeneuve’s first full foray into the sci-fi genre will have its world premiere at Venice International Film Festival, followed by a showing at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The full cast includes Jeremey Renner, Forest Whitaker, Tzi Ma, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mark O’Brien and many others. Arrival hits theaters on Nov. 11. Check out the teaser below.

Basically, that should be the trailer. Just that teaser.

Denis Villeneuve's Sci-Fi Drama

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity. Arrival is directed by Quebecois filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, of the films Incendies, Prisoners, Enemy and Sicario previously, currently working on the new Blade Runner sequel with Ryan Gosling.
