Teaser Trailer for ‘Sicario’ Sequel ‘Soldado’

Stefano Sollima’s Sicario Sequel

Sony Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming sequel Sicario 2: Soldado, with stars Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro returning; Emily Blunt, Roger Deakins, and Denis Villeneuve are not back this time.

The film is directed by Italian TV director Stefano Sollima. Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener also star. Taylor Sheridan, who penned the first Sicario, returned to pen the screenplay for a “more severe” sequel, which will focus on Del Toro’s shadowy assassin character.

Soldado opens in theaters on June 29, 2018. Unfortunately, it looks like a direct-to-DVD action film. See it for yourself in the video, below.

Stefano Sollima’s Sicario Sequel

A follow-up to the 2015 film, Sicario, which centers around the escalating war against drugs along the border of the United States and Mexico. Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro are back as C.I.A. agent Matt Graver and his “man on fire” Alejandro. The drug war has escalated as the cartels have shifted to trafficking terrorists across the U.S.-Mexico border, and that’s when Matt’s bosses ask him to intervene.
