UPDATE: Picturehouse has now released five brand new images from the film. Check ’em below.

The studio known for art films like Guillermo del Toro‘s Pan’s Labyrinth has finally released the teaser trailer for Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett‘s Sundance hit, The Guest, starring Dan Stevens of “Downton Abbey” fame.

The genre-bending ’80s-influenced kick ass action film came to prominence after huge success of Wingard and Barrett’s You’re Next.

Also starring Maika Monroe, Leland Orser, Lance Reddick, Chase Williamson and Brendan Meyer, Picturehouse is planning a September release for this thriller.

The teaser doesn’t show much, but has enough awesomeness to get you excited about the film that feels like a lost John Carpenter film from the director’s golden age; plus Dan Stevens = Instant Must Watch.

THE GUEST tells the story of a young soldier who arrives on the doorstep of the Peterson family, claiming to be a good friend of their beloved son who died in action. The Petersons welcome David into their home and into their lives, but when people start mysteriously dying in town, mayhem ensues as their teenage daughter Anna starts wondering if David is responsible.
