TERMINATOR: GENISYS Motion Poster Arrives, Trailer Coming Thursday

motion poster for the film

Paramount has released a motion poster for Alan Taylor’s Terminator: Genisys, ahead of the first official trailer from the film which arrives on Thursday.

The upcoming trailer has a lot to prove ‘cos plot points and recent promo images from EW haven’t exactly won the sci-fi/fantasy fans over. I hope it delivers.

Terminator: Genisys is due in theaters on July 1, 2015 and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung Hun Lee and Matt Smith. Hit the jump to check out the classic T-800 cyborg skull that slowly dissolves into the sand of an hour glass.

Terminators are composed out of futuristic metal Hyperalloy, which is a much stronger and much more resistant than any other known metal or iron. What could cause this futuristic metal to disintegrate into a pile of sand? Or is it being taken apart by nanobots? Well…it’s hard to say.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post-apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.
