First Trailer for Guillermo del Toro-Produced THE BOOK OF LIFE


The Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum and the Star Trek beauty Zoe Saldana voiced lead characters in the Guillermo del Toro-produced The Book of Life, an CG animation inspired by Mexico’s famous Dia de Muertos festival.

Today brings the first trailer and poster for animator and artist Jorge Gutiérrez‘s 3D animated feature which follow three childhood friends — Manolo (Diego Luna), Maria (Saldana), and Joaquin (Tatum) — who find themselves in a Romeo And Juliet-style tale as the gods wager on who will win Maria’s heart.

The film also features the voices of Ice Cube, Ron Perlman, Christina Applegate, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Placido Domingo, Hector Elizondo, Ana de la Reguera, Eugenio Derbez, Gabriel Iglesias, Ricardo “El Mandril” Sanchez and Danny Trejo.

The Book of Life lands this Halloween, October 17th.
