‘The Crystal Skull’ Writer David Koepp Returns for ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Harrison Ford

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Spielberg is tapping The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull screenwriter David Koepp to pen the next Indiana Jones installment.

Koepp is a veteran of several Spielberg projects including The Lost World: Jurassic Park and War of the Worlds but his resume is pretty diverse and I think this isn’t the most encouraging news.

Production on Indiana Jones 5 could get underway as soon as next summer or as late as Summer 2018. No plot details are yet available, but the film will reunite 73-year-old Harrison Ford and director Spielberg for what will presumably be one last go at the adventuring archaeologist.

Ford first made his debut as Indy in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. He reprised the role in 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The four films have brought in nearly $2 billion at the global box office.

The fifth film in the hit franchise is scheduled for a July 19th, 2019 release.
