It looks like a big screen adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower series is finally getting off the ground. Deadline reports that Mad Max: Fury Road and Gods of Egypt actress Abbey Lee is in negotiations to join the cast as the female lead, Tirana.

Although the outlet notes that Tirana is the film’s female lead, the character only appears in the seventh book in the series, and is definitely not the female lead in the novels. She is a soldier of the Crimson King, the ultimate baddie of the Dark Tower novels.

Whoever Tirana turns out to be, Idris Elba as gunslinger Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as the evil Man in Black are already lined up to star in the film and TV series. Nikolaj Arcel is directing the Western fantasy epic, which is intended to kickstart a whole franchise of Dark Tower movies and a TV series.

The Dark Tower will focus on Elba’s Roland Deschain and is currently set to be released on January 13, 2017, but I think it’s safe to assume that date might get pushed back, considering cameras haven’t rolled yet.
