THE EQUALIZER First International Trailer

Actually, this is the very first trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s Denzel Washington-lead The Equalizer, a feature film adaptation of the iconic TV series of the 1980’s.

The original featured Edward Woodward (Hot Fuzz) as Robert McCall, a vigilante who helps the helpless – the lead role of which Washington now takes over.

So judging by the first trailer, the movie doesn’t look groundbreaking, but it looks like a lot of fun and Denzel is one of those actors where you just believe he’s the character no matter the character.

Chloe Grace Moretz co-stars as the young girl Teri, and McCall comes out of retirement to rescue her.

Written by Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2), the film is set for a September 26 release and co-stars Melissa Leo, Bill Pullman, Haley Bennett, David Harbour and Marton Csokas.

Hit the jump to check out the first footage from this update of the classic TV drama in which Washington kicks some ass, obviously.

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
