THE FANTASTIC FOUR Adds Tim Blake Nelson

Tim-Blake-Nelson-Mole-Man

The major cast of Josh Trank‘s upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation The Fantastic Four already includes Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Michael B. Jordan (The Human Torch), Kate Mara (Sue Storm), Jamie Bell (The Thing) and Toby Kebbell (Dr. Victor von Doom), and now Tim Blake Nelson is to play Harvey Elder aka the villain Mole Man.

The film is in production any minute now — Simon Kinberg penned the script and is producing with Hutch Parker.

In comics lore, the eccentric and socially awkward scientist Elder is actually the Mole Man, shunned by humanity and leader of a subterranean group of monsters known as the Moloids.

Trade sources say Elder’s alter ego will not appear in that form in the first Fantastic Four film set for release on June 19, 2015, but Mole Man’s appearance does set up the character to be the villain in future installments of the franchise. Fox did not respond to a request to comment on the plans.

It will be the second time Nelson will play a character in a Marvel movie as he already has played a key character Samuel Sterns in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

Give ’em Hell, Tim!
