The First Footage from ‘Wonder Woman’ has Arrived

Warner Bros. Superhero Film

Shown off during the DC Films special, the first footage from the Wonder Woman movie, which stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, is now online. The 2017’s film tells the story of the Amazonian princess Diana (Gadot) and how she became the legendary superhero.

The first solo Wonder Woman movie also stars Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis.

DC and Warner Bros. also showed off the surprisingly stylish new trailer for Suicide Squad and their special exceeded all expectations tonight. It also gave fans interviews with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gadot, and directors Zack Snyder and Patty Jenkins.

Check out the footage in the video below, which includes commentary from DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns, co-star Chris Pine (who will portray Steve Trevor) and director Jenkins:

The first look shows that the filmmakers understand the appeal of Wonder Woman. I think that setting a film in the WWI period makes sense given the obvious comparisons it would get to Captain America: The First Avenger and other films set in WWII. Not buying Gadot as a super hero tho. She has no charisma to me. Oh, it’s kinda bad that the movie I’m now worried most about from DC is Snyder’s Batman vs Superman: Down of Justice. The Amazonian princess-warrior Diana (Gal Gadot) left her lush tropical island to dwell in our urban cityscapes of glass and steel. Tutored in the ways of the Greek warriors, and outfitted with incredible gifts the Goddess bestowed upon her people, she becomes Paradise Island’s emissary to civilization. DC’s Wonder Woman spin-off movie is being directed by filmmaker Patty Jenkins, of the Oscar winning film Monster previously, as well as a few episodes of “The Killing” and “Entourage”. The screenplay is by Jason Fuchs and William M. Marston. Filming is currently underway in the UK now. Warner Bros will release DC’s Wonder Woman in theaters everywhere starting June 23rd, 2017.
