The First Full Trailer for ‘T2: Trainspotting’ Reunites the Gang

Danny Boyle's Sequel

“Choose life, choose Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and hope that someone somewhere cares.” Sony Pictures has released the first full-length trailer for T2: Trainspotting, the hotly anticipated sequel to Danny Boyle‘s 1996 cult hit film Trainspotting.

The old gang from the original returns for T2 with Ewan McGregor reprising his role as Renton, joined by Robert Carlyle as psychopathic Francis Begbie, Ewen Bremner as Spud and Jonny Lee Miller as Sick Boy. Kevin McKidd’s character, Tommy, died in the original film.

The film is loosely based on the book “Porno” by Irvine Welsh, set 10 years after the events of Trainspotting, but the follow-up is set 20 years after the first film. T2: Trainspotting is scheduled to open on January 27, 2017 in the UK and February 3 in the U.S.

The refrain of Underworld’s Born Slippy plays over the trailer and while Renton appears to be drug free, narcotics still feature heavily in the teaser. Watch below.
