Here comes the first trailer for Eli Roth‘s first directorial effort in six years, The Green Inferno.

The upcoming horror-thriller film stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Sky Ferreira and Daryl Sabara and revolves around a group of student activists who from New York City travel to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by cannibals.

The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and drew strong reactions from the cinemagoers, with many noting that they couldn’t stomach some of the scenes. That’s OK, because the movie is “from the twisted mind of Eli Roth.”

Open Road will release The Green Inferno on September 15th.

Watch the trailer, it doesn’t get too deep into the plot.

Directed, co-written, and produced by Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel franchise), THE GREEN INFERNO follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction. In an unfortunate twist of fate, when the group arrives, they are taken hostage by the very cannibals they sought to protect.
