New Line Cinema and Warner Bros has debuted the first The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies trailer for Peter Jackson’s grand finale in his Middle Earth series, and it looks to be a very exciting ending.

In addition, a new poster has been released, featuring Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, with Sting in hand and the film’s tagline “The Defining Chapter.” Check them out after the jump.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies also stars Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Ken Stott, James Nesbitt, and Orlando Bloom. The film opens in theaters on December 17th.

And, what the hell, here’s the Comic-Con trailer.

Well then, WETA digital is swamped with effects work right now, so it’s a good bet that these shots are very unfinished.
