Walt Disney Studios has dropped the first official trailer for director Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King, which is in fact a shot-for-shot remake of the 1994 animated film’s opening sequence.

The voice talent lineup includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Billy Eichner as Timon and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.

The Lion King— a mix of CGI and live-action techniques, also stars Alfre Woodard, John Oliver, Keegan-Michael Key and John Kani. The screenplay is written by Jeff Nathanson, from a story by Brenda Chapman. The score is once again written by Hans Zimmer.
