First Look: THE LOBSTER Featuring Colin Farrell, John C. Reilly and Ben Whishaw

Principal photography wraps today for new comedy The Lobster, the English-language debut of Dogtooth director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Greek filmmaker has managed to round up an all-star cast including Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux, Olivia Colman, Ariane Labed, Angeliki Papoulia, Ashley Jensen, Michael Smiley and Jessica Barden.

Lanthimos, the Oscar-nominated director of Alps and Dogtooth, co-penned The Lobster script with his longtime collaborator Efthimis Filippou in the vein of Logan’s Run meets The Island of Dr. Moreau.

The film is expected to hit the UK sometime in 2014. Sadly, we don’t yet have U.S. release info.

An unconventional love story set in a dystopian near future where single people, according to the rules of the Town, are arrested and transferred to the Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released in the woods. A desperate man escapes from the Hotel to the woods where the Loners live and there he falls in love although it’s against the rules.
