The New ‘The Revenant’ TV Spot is All About Survival

Alejandro G. Inarritu's Revenge Thriller

20th Century Fox has shared the new The Revenant TV spot that aired during the mid-season finale of “The Walking Dead” on AMC last night, and you can watch the preview in the player below.

The 19th-century-set revenge thriller, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, seems like a very strong awards contender. Directed and co-written by Academy Award winner Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman), it’s loosely based on the real story, but it still looks badass. The Mexican filmmaker is re-united with the Oscar-winning Director of Photography Emmanuel Lubezki (Birdman, Gravity.)

The film will open in limited theaters on Christmas Day before going nationwide on 8, 2016 and also stars The Maze Runner‘s Will Poulter and Star Wars: The Force AwakensDomhnall Gleeson alongside Lukas Haas, Paul Anderson, and Brendan Fletcher.

I think that’s a real bear. Elsewhere, it’s gonna be a pivotal moment in American’s film history when Leo wins his Oscar. If he doesn’t I will lose all faith in humanity.

Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
