Pink-Panther-CGAnimated

One of the longest-running feature franchises, The Pink Panther is ready to just hit reset and start all over again. MGM is now developing a hybrid live-action film featuring a “real” Pink Panther character animated via CGI with The Simpsons Movie director David Silverman onboard.

Michael Price, also a Simpons writer and exec producer, is in talks to write a script. The now 92-year-oldWalter Mirischwho executive produced the original Pink Panther movies will produce the new film, along with Julie Andrews (Blake Edwards widow) and David DePatie.

They claim that it will “harken back to the tone of the original cartoons” and inspector Clouseau will reportedly not appear in the new flick. Moreover, the Panther himself will not speak and the real “voice” of the character will be provided by Henry Mancini‘s jaunty and slinky score.

More details in the next few months.
