THE WOLVERINE 3 will be Hugh Jackman’s Last

Old-Man-Logan

While speaking to SFX magazine, Hugh Jackman claims that he and director James Mangold are currently looking at Mark Millar‘s comic ‘Old Man Logan‘ as an inspiration for the third Wolverine solo movie, which is currently in development and set for a March 3rd, 2017 release with David James Kelly writing the script.

The Aussie actor also said he’s looking to permanently retract the claws after The Wolverine 3:

“I don’t know yet. We’re talking it through. I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way. If I did another one I’m 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me.”

Also, it will not take place in Japan and they’ll “move it to a different visual palette:”

“Of course we’re looking at Old Man Logan, because that may be the only option left at this point! [laughs] We are looking at a lot of different storylines. No one has jumped out. You can tell from my answer that we’re still working it out.”

Obviously, the storyline of Old Man Logan would have to be a pretty loose adaptation, as it features a number of characters currently owned by Marvel Studios.

The Wolverine 3 follows on from X-Men: Days of Future Past, which comes to theaters May 23, and X-Men: Apocalypse, which is scheduled for a May 27, 2016 release.
