The three different X-Men movies are currently in development at 20th Century Fox: X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for release this coming May, a direct sequel to that – X-Men: Apocalypse will drop May 27, 2016 and director James Mangold is now confirmed that he’s shooting the next Wolverine after X-men: Apocalypse.

Meanwhile, Logan’s next standalone story hasn’t got a release date.

Bearing in mind that Mangold is reportedly in talks to direct the adaptation of the mystery novel The Deep Blue Goodbye and is also attached to direct Reese Witherspoon in the adaptation of Ashley Rhodes-Courter’s memoir Three Little Words, that would put the as-yet Untitled Wolverine Sequel on target for a 2017 or 2018 release.

But does it mean Hugh Jackman will return to reprise the Logan Wolverine’s role one more time or will a new actor be brought in to play Logan? Since his last solo outing took in $415 million, you’d have to imagine the studio is eager to work with Jackman again.

Only time will tell the truth.
