Third PLANET OF THE APES Movie has a Title

According to Collider, the title for the third movie in the newly rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise has now been revealed. It may not come as much of a surprise, but the third prequel movie will be called War of the Planet of the Apes.

Spoilers! If you saw the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, you probably remember it ended with Caesar (Andy Serkis) back in charge of his primate civilization and warning that the actions in that film had started a war with the humans, thanks to the anti-human shenanigans of his deceased friend turned enemy Koba.

Dawn director Matt Reeves has previously said that

“The first one is sort of how [Caesar] goes from humble beginnings to becoming a revolutionary… In Dawn, he really rose to occasion of becoming a leader in really challenging and difficult times. The notion of what we’re after with the third is to sort of continue that trajectory and see how he becomes a seminal figure in ape history. He almost becomes sort of like an ape Moses. A mythic status… We’re trying to play out those themes and continue to sort of explore it in this universe. Exploring human nature under the guise of apes.”

Reeves will return for the sequel, the script for which he is co-writing with Mark Bomback. War of the Planet of the Apes is set for a July 14, 2017 release. Late last year, a DeviantArt user was on top of it when he made the fake movie poster. See below.
