Tilda Swinton Up for Ancient One Role in Marvel Studio’s DR. STRANGE

Doctor Strange Movie

Whoa, Marvel Studios is looking to cast Oscar winner Tilda Swinton in their Doctor Strange movie, which is being directed by Scott Derrickson.

Per THR, the actress is in talks to play none other than Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) mystic mentor the Ancient One, a character who was an elderly Tibetan male in the comics.

Last December, it was reported that Marvel wanted a male actor, considering Morgan Freeman, Bill Nighy, and Ken Watanabe for that role, but Swinton is apparently “an ethereal being who transcends such petty human distinctions.”

If a deal gets done, The Chronicles of Narnia star will join Cumberbatch in the Marvel’s adventure set to go into production later this fall with a release aimed for November 4th, 2016. Derrickson will direct from a script by Jon Spaihts.
