Bleeker Street has debuted the first trailer for director Ed Zwick‘s docudrama Pawn Sacrifice, starring Tobey Maguire as a chess prodigy Bobby Fischer.

Structured in a familiar “slice of history” biopic format, the film focuses on the 1972 World Chess Championship match between Fisher and the USSR champ, Boris Spassky (Liev Schreiber).

Opening September 18th, the chess drama is scripted by Steven Knight (Locke) and co-stars Sophie Nélisse, Peter Sarsgaard, Lily Rabe, Robin Weigert, Michael Stuhlbarg and Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick. Watch the first official Pawn Sacrifice trailer, and also check out the poster below.
