Tom Hanks in Talks to Star in Clint Eastwood’s Captain Sully Biopic

Clint Eastwood-Directed Biopic

According to Deadline, Clint Eastwood has found Sully. Tom Hanks is currently negotiating with Warner Bros. to portray the heroic pilot in Eastwood’s take on the true-life heroism dubbed Miracle on the Hudson in 2009, saving everyone on board from a disastrous crash.

The film will be based on Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberg’s 2009 autobiography, ‘Highest Duty,’ penned with Jeffrey Zaslow. Eastwood will direct from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki and he wants to begin shooting in September.

I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall. The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team,”

said Sullenberger himself.

Hanks will next be seen in Steven Spielberg‘s Bridge of Spies, the Cold War thriller that hits theaters Oct. 14.
