The Last Knight

Paramount and Hasbro have announced that the fifth installment in their lucrative series about massive shapeshifting robots has an official title – Transformers: The Last Knight.

I read “The Last” and was excited for a moment. Oh, well.

Michael Bay is confirmed to return as director, plus Mark Wahlberg will reprise his role as Cade Yeager from Transformers: Age of Extinction. He’ll be joined by franchise newcomers Isabela Moner as the female lead, and Jerrod Carmichael in an unspecified leading role. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, and Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down) penned the script.

In addition, the official Transformers: The Last Knight Instagram released a teaser video which featured a close-up image of Optimus Prime’s face along with title reveal and this message.

“Calling all #Autobots: Optimus Prime is ready for battle. Are you? #transformers”

No further details on plot are available at this time, but as the teaser also reveals, production is set to begin in June. Transformers: The Last Knight opens on June 23, 2017, while Bumblebee spin-off film will drop on June 8, 2018, and Transformers 6 will hit June 28, 2019.
