VACATION Writers Confirm SPIDER-MAN; Discuss Spidey’s Humor

Spider-Man Co-Writers

Vacation directors and co-writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein confirmed during a joint NPR interview that they are also co-writing Marvel and Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

“We can finally acknowledge that,” Daley told NPR. “This is the first time that we can say that we are writing it.” Goldstein added, “We’ve been saying no comment for the last week” and that they are thrilled. “He’s a sharp kid and witty and kind of deals with the fact that he’s an outcast and a geek through humor,” said Daley of Spidey. “It is sort of the safety net for geeks like us, so I think we can totally relate to where he’s coming from. As well as the superpowers, which we also have.”

Uhm, not writers worth getting excited over, but I’ll be curious to find out what they come up with.

The currently untitled new Spider-Man film is set for a July 28, 2017 release starring Tom Holland, with Jon Watts on board as director. Marisa Tomei is in talks for Aunt May. It’s speculated Holland will make his debut appearance in the role in Captain America: Civil War out next May.
