Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell Confirmed for TRUE DETECTIVE

HBO has finally confirmed Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn for the second season of True Detective with Justin Lin directing the first two episodes.

The network also announced that the new season of the gritty drama will be eight one-hour episodes and offered official logline:

“Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.”

Vaughn will reportedly play Frank Semyon, a “career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

Colin’s character, Ray Velcoro, is described as a “compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”

I have a feeling that this is going to be truly an inspired casting choice that will shock everyone.

Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Chastain, Rachel McAdams, Brit Marling, Oona Chaplin, Jaimie Alexander, Kelly Reilly, Malin Akerman, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Biel are previously rumored as possible contenders  for the role of a police officer who had a tough childhood and now struggles with gambling and alcohol addictions.

True Detective Season 2 will begin production in California later this fall and is expected to air Summer 2015.
