Vincent Cassel to Play Villain in ‘Bourne 5’

The Untitled Bourne Sequel

Following the news that production on the new Bourne movie is gearing up, it’s now been revealed that Vincent Cassel will menace returning star Matt Damon.

Talented French actor has joined the cast that also includes Tommy Lee Jones, Julia Stiles  and Alicia Vikander in the next installment in the Jason Bourne film franchise that sees Paul Greengrass back in the director’s chair.

THR reports that he’s set to play “a mysterious man simply known as The Asset, industry code for assassin,” a character similar to the ones played by Clive Owen, Karl Urban, and Edgar Ramirez in earlier Bourne films.

we can surmise now that Vigo Mortensen’s casting for the bad-guy role didn’t work out.

Plot details on Bourne 5, written by Greengrass and Christopher Rouse, are being kept under wraps, but Damon recently claimed the story would take Bourne “through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” touching on themes like “spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

Shooting on the untitled Bourne sequel begins this week in Greece for release on July 29, 2016. Can’t wait to see what Cassel brings to the table for this.
