‘War of the Planet of the Apes’ Casts ‘Low Riders’ Actor for Lead Role

War Of The Planet Of The Apes

War of the Planet of the Apes, the third movie in the newly rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise is scheduled to begin shooting in Vancouver this October.

Now Deadline reports that War has hired Gabriel Chavarria (“East Los High”) to play one of the two main human leads in the film, which brings back Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves.

Mark Bomback also is back as screenwriter and Reeves previously teased that the next installment in the rebooted saga would see Andy Serkis’ Caesar “leading his people through a war he tried so hard to prevent.” It seems unlikely that other actors from the second movie are coming back as well. I think it’s slightly better than forcing characters into a situation again.

War of the Planet of the Apes will be released on July 14, 2017.

Best known for his work on TV (“Aquarius”, “Prime Suspect”), Chavarria will also be seen in Universal’s upcoming drama Low Riders, starring opposite Melissa Benoist, Demian Bichir and Eva Longoria.
