Warner Bros. Developing DC Comics LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES?

Following last month’s announcement of a slew of untitled release dates for upcoming Warner Bros. and DC films, WB is reportedly interested in bringing  one of comics’ oldest superhero teams, the Legion of Super-Heroes from the cosmic side of universe to the big screen.

And while Justice League is expected to be one of the films following Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and, presumably, standalone films for Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, now Latino Review is reporting that the Legion of Super-Heroes could also snag one of those nine release dates.

Even if you were to add The Sandman, Shazam and a Superman sequel to the mix, there’s still plenty of room for a 30th Century inter-galactic team of super-powered young adults. Their cosmic setting makes them pretty similar to  Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy which has achieved tremendous box office success.

The studio has reportedly sent out copies of the comic book to screenwriters to get them to pitch their movie takes on the characters.

First live-action version of the Legion of Super-Heroes were seen in Superman TV series Smallville a few years ago – Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy have appeared on it.

Maybe Warner Bros. could even have something together in time for the LSH’s 60th anniversary, in 2018, but let’s take it with a large grain of salt. Comic book fans have a long list of superheroes they would much prefer to see in a movie before this team.

The Legion has a lot of potential though.
