Watch: First Trailer for Surprise Sequel ’10 Cloverfield Lane’

J.J. Abrams-Produced Surprise Film

“Something’s coming.” Paramount Pictures has now officially revealed that Cloverfield is getting kind of a sequel–the teaser trailer has arrived for the J.J. Abrams-produced surprise sequel to director Matt Reeves’ 2008 found footage monster flick.

Titled 10 Cloverfield Lane, the secret Bad Robot movie directed by Dan Trachtenberg is currently being promoted in theaters with new Michael Bay film 13 Hours.

Starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher Jr., this apparently is the same thing as Valencia, a small budget film which has been in the works for a while now and is actually set in the same universe as Cloverfield.

“The idea came up a long time ago during production. We wanted to make it a blood relative of Cloverfield. The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible,” said Abrams.

The script was written by Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken and Damien Chazelle. The film hits theaters on March 11th. Watch the official trailer for 10 Cloverfield Lane, it’s been executed to perfection.

It looks great. And John Goodman. Although it doesn’t look like you can compare it to Cloverfield much.

Update: The first poster for the mysterious film has just debuted. Reminds me of Abrams’ Super 8.

The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.
