Watch: New Trailer for Will Smith’s ‘Concussion’ Drama

The Sports Drama

Sony Pictures has released a brand new trailer for Peter Landesman‘s Concussion, the powerful drama starring Will Smith as the forensic pathologist Bennet Omalu credited for discovering brain trauma issues experienced by football players.

The second trailer explains why the Nigerian-born doctor with no knowledge of football came to take on the N.F.L.

Opening December 25, the sports drama based on Jeanne Marie Laskas‘ GQ article, “Game Brain” also stars Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Paul Reiser, David Morse and Albert Brooks. Watch out below.

Having watched two trailers for the film, I’m not sure that Sony has an Oscar contender on its hands.

Will Smith's Sports Drama

“Once I discovered how badly he wanted to be an American, it explained his clothes and his cars, his choice of job and why he had so many degrees,” says Smith. “His impression of an American was you had a business, you had a Mercedes, you had nice suits, you had a family. He connected that to his spirituality and that became the thing that fueled his journey, that kept him going in the face of all odds.”
