Walt Disney Pictures has released the first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s The BFG, the highly-anticipated adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s beloved story of a little girl Sophie and the friendly giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.

Newcomer Ruby Barnhill plays Sophie, an orphan who discovers the titular big friendly giant (voiced by Mark Rylance).

Directed by Spielberg with a screenplay from Melissa Mathison (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), his first film for the mouse house also stars Penelope Wilton, Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader, Paul Moniz de Sa and Olafur Olaffson. The movie hits U.S. theaters on July 1, 2016.

Take a look at the teaser trailer below, and see what you can pick out.

I don’t think I need to see anymore footage, looks like a good family movie to watch. Elsewhere, it’s fun to see a return to the tone of Hook for the first time. I reckon Spielberg would have made an amazing Harry Potter film.

The BFG is no ordinary bone-crunching giant. He is far too nice and jumbly. It’s lucky for Sophie that he is. Had she been carried off in the middle of the night by the Bloodbottler, or any of the other giants—rather than the BFG—she would have soon become breakfast. When Sophie hears that the giants are flush-bunking off to England to swollomp a few nice little chiddlers, she decides she must stop them once and for all. And the BFG is going to help her!
