Watch: U.S. Trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘The Lobster’

Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Movie

Hot on the heels of last night’s blitzkrieg of Hollywood advertising, comes the arthouse U.S. trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos‘ weird and absurd movie, The Lobster.

Starring Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, Lea Seydoux, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw, and Olivia Colman, Lanthimos’ third movie and the English-language debut is finally set to arrive in the U.S. theaters on March 11.

The Lobster premiered at Cannes this year, and besides winning the Jury Prize, the feature also was up for the Palme d’Or. I wish it had been released in the U.S. before the end of 2015 in order to be eligible for the upcoming Oscars.

Watch the first official domestic trailer for the film to get a more clear sense of director’s trademark deadpan humor.

That’s pretty much the weirdest premise I’ve ever heard.

Colin Farrell And Rachel Weisz

A love story set in the near future where single people, according to the rules of The City, are arrested and transferred to The Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into The Woods. A desperate Man escapes from The Hotel to The Woods where The Loners live and falls in love, although it is against their rules.
