Weekend Box Office: ‘Coco’ Beats ‘Justice League’ Again

The animated Pixar hit Coco easily takes No. 1 for a second week with $26.1 million, beating out its closest competition Justice League (Warner Bros.), which remained in second place with $16.5 million. The movie, which follows a Mexican boy into the underworld, takes its North American total to $108.6 million.

The DC Extended Universe team-up takes its domestic total to $197.3 million after three weeks in theaters.

Coming in third once again is Lionsgate’s feel-good film Wonder, which grossed $12.5 million, bringing its total to $88 million.

Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok with $9.6 million and Paramount Pictures’ Daddy’s Home 2 with $7.5 million rounded out the top five. Actually, the top six movies were the same as last weekend.

7. “Lady Bird” — $4.5 mil. ($17 mil.)
8. “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” — $4.5 million ($13.6 mil.)
9. “The Star” — $4 million ($27.2 mil.)
10. “A Bad Moms Christmas” — $3.4 million ($64.8 mil.)

In limited release, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water (Fox Searchlight Pictures) led the per-screen-averages with an impressive $83,400 across two screens, followed by James Franco’s The Disaster Artist (A24) with $64,254 as it debuted in 19 theaters.
