Weekend Box Office: ‘Coco’ Takes Down ‘Justice League’ for a Third Time

Disney and Pixar’s Coco topped the moderate domestic box office for a third time, adding $18.3 million to bring its North American total to $135.5 million.

Warner Bros. and DC’s Justice League remained in the second spot with $9.6 million and Lionsgate’s sleeper hit Wonder placed third with $8.5 million.

The quiet period before Star Wars: The Last Jedi has allowed James Franco’s The Disaster Artist (A24) to climb to the fourth spot with $6.4 million at 840 venues, up from 19 last weekend. The film, about the making of one of the worst films of all time, The Room, co-stars Dave Franco and Seth Rogen.

Disney-Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok rounds out the top five with an estimated $6.3 million, which put its domestic total above $300 million.

The week’s only new wide release, Broad Green’s poorly reviewed comedy Just Getting Started could only manage an estimated $3.2 million from 2,161 locations. The film, starring Morgan Freeman, Rene Russo and Tommy Lee Jones, received a “C” CinemaScore.
